5 Must Know Excel Double-Click Tricks
5 tricks that will up your Excel game, and make your life EASY.
I'm a pretty serious keyboard jockey when it comes to Excel. It can seriously improve your efficiency. Yet there are times when the mouse can actually be faster. "Double-Click Tricks" are great examples of those times. These simple techniques have saved me time, energy...and frustration! Let's jump into a few of my favorite....
Show or Hide the Excel Ribbon
Sometimes it feels like we don't have enough space on our screen to work our spreadsheets. The Excel Ribbon takes up a lot of space. All you have to do is double click the tab which is active and you can hide it. Don't worry, it's not gone forever. You can double click it again to reveal it.
Format Painter
The copy format paintbrush is a super helpful tool. But it can get tedious to always have to click back and forth. Not to worry, if you double click the icon it locks in the format. This will allow you to click away.
Fill Formulas Down
Filling formulas down is a huge time saver when building out a spreadsheet. The problem is filing down over 100's of rows. Here is a quicker way - if you double click the lower right corner of the cell it will fill to the last row!
Auto Adjust Column Width & Height
Nothing is worse than getting a bunch of data but not being able to read it. This happens a lot in Excel, especially when rows and columns are side by side with A LOT of information. To fix this double click the leading edge of the row or column cell. This will autofit the cell to the proper size.
Move to the last cell in a Row or Column
Find the last cell in a row or column can be a royal pain in the you know what. Scrolling rows drives me nuts and scrolling is useless when trying to find the last column. No worries, pick a cell and double click the leading edge of the direction you want to go. For example if you click the right edge of the cell highlight, it will go to the last column on the right.
